Harold Petznick

Belton, Mo.

Harold "Hal" Jay Petznick, of Belton, Missouri, passed from this life on Dec. 21, 2015.

Hal was born Jan. 14, 1948, in Creston. He graduated from Creston High School in 1967. After graduation, he immediately reported to basic training in the United States Air Force. He proudly served his nation in Vietnam and rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant prior to his discharge. Shortly after returning from Vietnam, Hal married Carol Jean Wahe of Greenfield on March 16, 1969, and resided in Belton, Missouri, from the time he was stationed at Richards-Gebaur Air Force Base in 1970 until his death. Hal continued to serve his nation and community, working as a millwright at Honeywell (Bendix), serving as the committee chairman of Boy Scout Troop 111, leading the Mt. Pleasant Road board and volunteering with Belton's emergency management team.

Hal was a member of Lord of Love Lutheran Church in Belton.

Hal is preceded in death by his parents, Harold Jay Petznick and Mary Louise Petznick.

Hal is survived by his wife Carol, of the home; daughter Heather Pickett (Chris) of Kansas City, Missouri; son Pete Petznick (Angel) of Belton, Missouri; six grandchildren; siblings, Lou Pine and family of Iowa and Tom Petznick and family of Kentucky; brother-in-law, Jerry Wahe and family of Iowa and father-in-law Dale Wahe of Greenfield.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 26, at the Lord of Love Lutheran Church in Belton, Missouri, with a memorial service immediately following. Condolences may be left at www.mcgilleygeorgebelton.com.
