Helen Riedel, 83, of Tahlequah, Okla., formerly of Creston, died Friday, Sept. 11, 2015, at the Cherokee County Nursing Home in Tahlequah, Okla.

Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 18, at First Baptist Church in Creston. The Rev. David Tebbenkamp and the Rev. Robert L. Saucer will officiate. Burial will be in West Fairview Cemetery in Lenox. Open visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. before the service at the church on Friday. Helen Marie Riedel, daughter of Clarence and Myrtle (Barker) Ambrose, was born Sept. 2, 1932 in Kent. She attended Platte No. Two Country School and Cromwell High School. In 1960, she married Richard Riedel in Villisca and they lived on a farm near Kent. They became members of the First Baptist Church in 1969.

Helen is survived by her daughters, Nancy James (husband Mike) and Barb Surber, all of Hulbert, Okla., Kathy Bownes (husband Ron) of Maryville, Mo. and Tammy Broschat (husband Robin) of Omaha, Neb.; sons, Ron Riedel (wife Karen) of Bedford and Ken Porter of Box Elder, S.D.; brothers, Eldon Ambrose and Russell Ambrose, both of Kent; 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents; husband Richard Riedel; sisters, Ferne Jackson and Delma Bittner; brother Lyle Ambrose and grandson Craig Bownes.
