8th girls
RED OAK — The Creston eighth-grade girls took third place at a tough meet in Red Oak Thursday.
Highlight of the meet for the Panthers was a school record performance in the 4x800 relay by the team of Jesse Vicker, Emma Berning, Micha Stephens and Brielle Baker in a time of 11:15.51. The previous record was 11:18.23.
Creston took first place in the 1,500 meters by Vicker as well as the 4x800. Six Panther entries took second place.

RED OAK — Creston seventh-grade girls placed third at the Red Oak track meet Thursday with 55 points, only 1.5 points behind runner-up Treynor. Red Oak won with 74 points.
The Panthers won the 4x800, 4x400 and 4x200 relays and took second in the 4x100. MaKenna Hudson won the 100 meters and long jump for Creston.

CLARINDA — Creston eighth-grade boys got runner-up finishes from Zach Hague in the discus (116-7), Kylan Smallwood in the high jump (5-0), Chris Perry in the 1,600 meters (5:41.17), Walker Patterson in the 200 meter hurdles (30.52) and the 4x200 relay Thursday at Clarinda.
“They didn’t give us team scoring. Nevertheless, the boys in both grades performed well last night,” Creston coach Dick Clark said. “We got our share of top three places and lowered our times.”
