Carol Wise, 77, of Creston died Jan. 26, 2015, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 30, 2015, at Powers Funeral Home, 612 N. Dodge St., Afton. Cheryl Whittington will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Afton. Open visitation will be 2 to 7 p.m. Thursday with family present 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the family. Online condolencesmay be left at www.powersfh.com.

Carol Lavon Wise, daughter of Doris Irene (Landers) and Nolen Huntsman, was born May 14, 1937, in Afton.

Carol graduated from Thayer High School in 1955 and attended trade school in Omaha, Neb.

On Oct. 22, 1957, Carol married Billy Joe Bunker in Thayer.

Carol was a homemaker, living various locations before settling in Creston in 1967.

She and Billy later divorced.

While a homemaker, Carol sewed clothing commercially for Matel Barbie Dolls.

On May 14, 1980, Carol married George Wise in Creston. They lived in Essex and Sedalia, Mo., where she worked in a bakery and dress shop. Carol also worked as an elder care worker for the elderly in their homes.

After her divorce from George, Carol returned to Creston in 1987 and attended Southwestern Community College and earned her Associate of Arts degree in 1997.

Carol worked at Easters, Walmart, Matura and as a seamstress at Winnebago in Lorimor.

Carol is survived by her special friend Olin Straight of Corning; son Mark Bunker of Creston; daughter Melanie (husband Michael) Johnson of Creston; step-daughter Debbie Lynn Dodd of Aurelia; sisters, Nola (husband Earl) Vorrath of Casey, Bonnie Perdue (significant other Terry McDowell) of Winterset and Patty Rollings of Shannon City; grandchildren, Chauncey, Brandon and Brittany Bunker; step-grandchildren, Mary Lynn, Laura and Elijah Johnson, Melinda Gunville and Aaron Dodd; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents; daughter Susanna Bunker; sister Donna Donner; and first husband.
