7th grade

GREENFIELD — The Creston seventh-graders closed the season by winning four of nine sets against Nodaway Valley Thursday.

Nodaway Valley edged Creston Team One 21-12, 21-9, 12-15.

“The games were closer than the score indicates,” said Creston coach Teri Keeler. “There were some good volleys, but we just didn’t get the sideout on them.”

Passing — Makenna Hudson 26-30, Emma Hanson 12-13, Abbi Hood 28-33, Sara Keeler 15-17, Kara Kinsella 14-15.

Serving (aces) —Hudson 7-10 (1), Hanson 8-8 (2), Sara Keeler 4-6 (1).

Creston Team Two defeated Nodaway Valley 15-21, 21-9, 15-13 in a close match.

“Serving was the key in the two wins,” Keeler said. “Lexie Rounds had a great night of serving with 10 aces. Again, there were some great volleys!”

Passing — Ellie Starlin 4-6, Hudson 10-10, Paige Busch 6-7, Chasity Clayton 6-7, Sasha Smith 6-7, Lexie Rounds 4-6.

Serving (aces) — Starlin 9-11 (1), Hudson 12-14 (8) Rounds 13-15 (10).

Nodaway Valley beat Creston Team Three 15-21, 21-15, 15-7.

“Serving was key in the game we won,” Keeler said.

Passing — Emma Hanson 15-19, Ashley Reynard 5-8, Kara Kinsella 11-17, Fallon Rooks 8-9, Haylee Morgan 5-7.

Serving (aces) — Hanson 12-14 (5), Reynard 5-9 (1), Calista Mason 6-9 (1).

The girls had a good season and improved tremendously from day one,” coach Keeler summarized. “I look forward to watching them in the next few years.”

8th grade

GREENFIELD — Creston went 6-3 in eighth-grade volleyball Thursday in the Panthers’ final match of the season at Nodaway Valley.

Creston Team One swept Nodaway Valley 25-7, 25-11, 15-1.

“This group put on a clinic,” coach Jan Lesan said. “There are so many weapons that could strike at any time. This group will be fun to watch in the future.”

Serving (aces) — Jaxie Luther 24-25 (14), Bree Ross 6-6, Taylor Buxton 7-9 (2), Megan Haley 10-12 (2), Grace Root 3-3.

“This group was relaxed. They moved and talked and played well,” Lesan said. “They should be very proud of themselves.”

Nodaway Valley swept Creston Team Three 25-15, 25-6, 15-8.

“This group of athletes improved over the season but came up short in this match,” Lesan said. “They strive to play bump-set-spike. That is what I asked for as a coach. They need to improve on their fundamentals, but a great bunch of people to work with.”
