Dawn Ide, 77, of Creston died Oct. 2, 2014, at Greater Regional Hospice Home.

Services will be 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 6, at Crest Baptist Church. The Rev. Chuck Spindler will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, south of Creston. Visitation was held Sunday at Powers Funeral Home, junction of highways 34 and 25. Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer's Association or Mayflower Heritage Christian School. Dawn Rae (Carlson) Ide, daughter of Alta Mae (Blencoe) and Edward George Carlson, was born Sept. 5, 1937, in Nevada.

Dawn graduated from Creston High School in 1957 and received her degree in elementary education from the University of Iowa in 1961.

Dawn lived in Iowa City and taught kindergarten for a short time before moving back to Creston where she taught kindergarten at Jefferson Elementary.

On Feb. 11, 1966, Dawn married Theodore “Ted” Ide. They settled on a farm south of Creston, and Dawn was a farm wife.

Dawn was a member of Crest Baptist Church in Creston, charter member of The Book Club, Union County Fair Board participant for 25 years, 4-H leader of the Grant Go-Getters, bee keeper, member of South Valley Quilters and Republican Women.

Dawn is survived by her husband Ted Ide of Creston; children, Todd (wife Diane) Ide of Kansas City, Mo., Laura (husband Jerry) Hartman of Creston, Ed (wife Lauren) Ide of Edwardsville, Ill., and Michael (wife Tracie) Ide of Boise, Idaho; grandchildren, Theo, Savannah, Olivia and Eli Hartman and Meghan, Ben, Connor, Emma, Ian, Truman and Sadie Ide; and many nieces, nephews and other family members.

Dawn was preceded in death by her parents and sister Blythe Luci.
