James ‘Jim’ Marvin Cornelison, 60, of Lorimor died Sept. 30, 2011, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4, at Ochiltree Funeral Service, 1823 N. John Wayne Dr., Winterset. Open visitation will be held 1 to 8 p.m., with family present 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Lorimor Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family. Jim Cornelison, son of Patricia (Repplinger) and Merrill Cornelison, was born Sept. 10, 1951, in Osceola.
Jim attended grade school at East Union and finished his education at Fort Sill Army School, Fort Sills, Okla.
On Feb. 20, 1977, Jim married Norma ‘Gidget’ Nelson.
Jim enlisted in the U.S. Army and served two tours of duty in Vietnam. When he enlisted he was a paratrooper and later transferred to the tank division. He was honorably discharged from service with the rank of Private Second Class in 1975.
After his Army service, Jim began a career in trucking. Most recently, he was employed with Double S Trucking in Avoca and had also driven for Hill Brothers and Werner Enterprises both of Omaha, as well as Advanced Drainage Systems of Creston.
Jim is survived by his daughter Shannon (husband Ryan) Billheimer of Adair; son Matt (wife Heather) Cornelison of Fontanelle; seven grandchildren, Cale, Clay and Finn Billheimer and Dylan, Emma, Gavin and Allie Cornelison; sister, Sandi (husband Wayne) Tucker; two brothers, Allen (wife Nita) McKinney and Merrill (wife Sandy) Cornelison, all of Lorimor; special friend Cyndi Torrance of Lorimor; many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Cloyd and Ed McKinney; two nieces, Debbie McKinney and Kimberly (McKinney) Groth and nephew-in-law, Nathan Groth.
