The driver involved in a one-vehicle accident Monday is suspected of being impaired.

According to a Union County report, at approximately 4:31 p.m. a 2006 Ford Escape, driven by Daniel G. Goodemote, 43, of Thayer, was eastbound on 197th Street when Goodemote lost control of the Escape. The Escape rolled into the north ditch and came to rest on the driver’s side.

During the accident investigation, several alcoholic beverage containers, some of which were open, were located in the vehicle as well as gummies containing THC.

Goodemote was transported to Greater Regional Health, where an OWI investigation was conducted. A PBT indicated Goodemote had a BrAC of over .08%. A urine sample was requested and obtained which will be sent to the crime lab for testing.

Damage to the Escape was estimated at $7,000. The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.
