CORALVILLE – The Iowa Women’s Foundation is now accepting applications for its 2021 Core Grants. Deadline dates for application submissions are due 5 p.m. April 30.
Economic self-sufficiency for all of Iowa’s women and girls is central to the mission of the Iowa Women’s Foundation and its grants program. To be eligible, proposed projects must focus primarily on serving the needs and aspirations of women and girls. To this end, six specific areas have been identified as the most critical barriers for Iowa women and girls, and all Core Grant applications must address one of these barriers. The barriers include: employment, child care, housing, education and training, transportation, and mentorship. A request for proposal is available online at https://iawf.org/core-grants/.
Since the first grants were made in 1996, IWF has awarded over $1 million to more than 230 programs benefiting thousands of women and girls in all 99 Iowa counties. “We’re committed to sustaining programs that invest in the economic self-sufficiency of the women of Iowa, and by doing so, we significantly improve the status of our families, our communities and the Iowa economy,” said Dawn Oliver Wiand, Executive Director of Iowa Women’s Foundation.
In order to be considered for a Core Grant, non-profit organizations must complete an application. IWF invites interested applicants to learn more about its statewide grantmaking process. An information session will be held in Coralville March 5. An overview of IWF and its grantmaking policies will be provided to give applicants assistance on how to prepare a competitive application. This session will be available by electronicconferencing/Zoom for those not able to attend in person. RSVP to grants@iawf.org for further details. Mentors are also available to provide guidance for a successful application. To request a mentor, email grants@iawf.org by March 6 and include “Mentor Inquiry” in the subject line.
