Southwest Valley takes one dual win

AVOCA – Southwest Valley finished its dual meets Tuesday 1-2 with its lone win over Audubon.

The Timberwolves picked up a 48-18 win with forfeits providing 30 points – with three double forfeits.

In the remaining three wins, SWV completed each match win a pin. At 138 Brendan Knapp finished Audubon’s Keigan Deist at 1:11. Raymond Harris followed Knapp at 145 with a fall at 5:23.

After a SWV win by forfeit at 152, Audubon won back-to-back matches from pins at 160 and 170 before Kaden Jacobs (182) rounded out the competed match wins with a pin at 3:26.

Against AHSTW, SWV fell 57-18 as forfeits hurt the Timberwolves significantly.

A double forfeit at 113 prevented SWV from allowing 24 points, but forfeits at 120, 126 and 132 put the Timberwolves in a tough position to stay competitive.

Two wrestlers scored wins over AHSTW – Knapp and Tallen Myers (220). Knapp recorded his second pin of the day with a fall at 3:08. Myers finished his match in the first period with a pin at 0:54.

At 182, Kaden Jacobs was the only Timberwolf who didn’t give up points from pin. Jacobs went all three periods in a 12-7 decision loss.

SWV fell just short against West Central Valley with a 45-33 loss.

The Timberwolves recorded four wins by forfeit while WCV finished with three forfeit victories.

Anthony Daffer (285) and Adyson Lundquist (106) picked up the only wins for SWV. Daffer recorded a 6-0 victory over WCV’s Camden Steele while Lundquist scored six points with a pin at 1:42.

WCV recorded eight consecutive victories – three from forfeit – to accumulate its 45 points.

Bedford/Lenox faces stiff competition

TABOR – Bedford/Lenox finished Tuesday 1-2 after facing Griswold, Southwest Iowa and Red Oak.

The Tigers took down Griswold with only two competed matches.

Talon Riedel (138) scored a fall against Jeremy Sheeder at 1:10. Jake Cox (152) ended his match in the second

period with a pin over Walker Brosam at 3:13.

Bedford/Lenox scored 48 points from forfeit with double forfeits at 113 and 126.

Bedford/Lenox dropped its match against Southwest Iowa 41-38 Tuesday.

SWI picked up four match wins from forfeit while Class 2A’s No. 4 170 Drew Veneticher – competing at 182 – and Riedel recorded 12 points from forfeit for the Tigers.

At 152, Cox dominated on his way to a 16-0 technical fall at 2:34. Jesse Lawson (170) and Devin Whipple (285) recorded the only pins for Bedford/Lenox at 1:16 and 0:45, respectively.

Mizael Gomez was the other Tiger wrestler with a win. Gomez’s match went all three periods before picking up a 6-3 decision win over SWI’s Justin Wells.

Red Oak took a victory over Bedford/Lenox with a 57-18 performance.

Bedford/Lenox gave up four forfeits to account for 20 Red Oak points.

Veneticher took down Class 2A’s No. 3 160 Justin McCunn with a 5-4 decision win.

Whipple scored six points for the Tigers after pinning Hunter Portales at 1:11. Dawson Bond (132) was the final Bedford/Lenox wrestler to win in a competed match, taking three points on a 9-4 decision win.

Riedel won on forfeit to give Bedford/Lenox the final of its 18 points.

Nodaway Valley goes 1-2 at home

GREENFIELD – Nodaway Valley finished Tuesday with a 1-2 record, taking on North Polk, Saydel and Van Meter/Earlham.

The Wolverines picked up a 54-9 victory of Saydel with five matches competed. NV took four matches from forfeit and had three double forfeits.

In each match win, NV took the victory from pin. Austin Wilson took a win at 160, pinning Jake Van Houten at 1:52. Jory Christensen (285) was the next competed match with a fall at 1:17. No. 9 113 at Class 2A Elliot Cooney (113) and Jaxon Christensen (126) recorded pin at 0:17 and 0:25, respectively.

North Polk took advantage of each forfeit on its way to a 60-20 win over Nodaway Valley.

The Wolverines allowed a combined 24 points from forfeit 106, 182, 195, and 220.

In competed matches, NV’s Jory Christensen won from a pin at 1:56 and Ben Breheny (120) took four points for the Wolverines with an 11-0 majority decision win. Cooney was the other NV wrestler to score, earning six points from forfeit.

Nodaway Valley fell to Van Meter-Earlham 54-21 against a trio of ranked wrestlers.

Colby Wiederholt No. 7 126 at Class 2A, Caleb Swalla No. 7 170 and Derrin Sesker No. 5 285 all picked up wins over Jaxon Christensen, Brandon Raasch and Jory Christensen.

NV’s No. 9 ranked wrestler, Cooney, picked up a pin at 1:47. At 138, Carter Goetz and Austin Wilson (160) each scored six points with pins at 2:47 and 0:16, respectively. Jevin Christensen (132) was the other NV wrestler to score points with a 5-4 decision win over Jackson Boese.
