Central College

PELLA – Cody Jacobson of Fontanelle was one of 50 Central College students inducted into the college’s chapter of The National Society of Leadership and Success during an April ceremony.

Morningside College

SIOUX CITY – A total of 383 students were named Roadman Scholars and Dimmitt Scholars at Morningside College in recognition of high academic distinction for the 2018-19 academic year.

Roadman Scholars must be full-time students who have completed at least 45 credits of college work with a cumulative GPA of 3.76 or above, and included Seth R. Maitlen of Creston, senior in social and behavioral science, general psychology. The award is named in honor of the late Earl Roadman, who was president of Morningside College from 1936-56.

Dimmitt Scholars must be full-time students who have completed at least 45 credits of college work with a cumulative GPA between 3.50 and 3.75. The award is named in honor of the late Lillian Dimmitt, who served as a teacher and administrator at Morningside College for more than 60 years.

Northwestern College

ORANGE CITY – Susan Stover of Afton was among 78 graduate students who were awarded a Master of education in early childhood from Northwestern College during commencement ceremonies Saturday, May 11.

Rick Clark, a Northwestern College Spanish instructor who is retiring after 22 years on the faculty, gave the commencement address.

Northwestern’s M.Ed. program offers instruction in seven tracks – early childhood, early childhood plus endorsement, educational administration plus principal endorsement, master teacher, special education, special education plus endorsement and teacher leadership – that are designed to be completed in two years or less. The program exists entirely online and qualifies graduates for positions like lead teachers, peer coaches and jobs at AEAs, colleges and nonprofit educational organizations. It is ranked second among the nation’s Top Low-Cost Online Master’s Programs by BestMasterDegrees.com and third on a list of the nation’s 25 Most Affordable Online Master of Education Leadership and Administrative Degrees by AffordableSchools.net.
