I35, CD girls end regular season with wins

TRURO — Interstate 35’s girls basketball team used a hot start to roll to a 64-35 win over Martensdale-St. Mary’s on Feb. 7 in Pride of Iowa Conference play.

The Roadrunners led 22-3 after one quarter and 44-17 at halftime.

Slye Richardson had her best overall shooting night of the season, pouring in a game-high 26 points on 9-of-14 shooting, including 8-of-12 from three-point range. She also chipped in seven assists and four steals.

Gracey Griglione had a strong night as well, pouring in 21 points on 8-of-14 shooting, with nine rebounds and five blocked shots.

Cheyenne Hiatt added 10 points and six rebounds.

Interstate 35 concluded the regular season 15-6. The Roadrunners opened Class 2A Region 4 play Tuesday against Ogden.

CD caps perfect regular season

CORYDON — Class 2A third-ranked Central Decatur’s girls basketball team capped a perfect regular season with an easy 76-26 win over Wayne on Feb. 7 in Corydon.

The Cardinals led 30-6 after one quarter and 54-17 at halftime.

Emma Atwood led the Cardinals with 17 points on 8-of-10 shooting. Raegan Boothe had six rebounds, four assists and four steals. Alli Masters had 12 points, five assists, five steals and five blocked shots. Jentri Hullinger added 11 points and four assists Lily Simon chipped in eight points and seven assists.

Central Decatur (21-0) opened Class 2A Region 8 tournament play Tuesday hosting Pleasantville.
