Cecil Smith, 78, of Clearfield died June 24, 2015, at Clearview Home in Clearfield.

Graveside services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 27, at Clearfield Cemetery.  The Rev. Bill Armstrong will officiate. Burial will be in Cleafield Cemetery. Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home of Clearfield is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be given in Cecil's name. Online condolences may be left at www.watsonarmstrongfh.com.

Cecil Edward Smith, son of Vesta Maxine (Keller) and Cecil Joseph Smith, was born May 12, 1937, in Diagonal. Cecil attended West Point Country School.

On Aug. 15, 1958, Cecil married Dorothy Rose Sissel at the First Christian Church in Mount Ayr.

Through the years Cecil worked many jobs, most notably many years building fence and later operating the can redemption company in Clearfield.

Cecil is survived by his wife Dorothy Smith of Clearfield; sons, Wade (Janet) Smith of Ridgecrest, Calif., Dennis (Angie) Smith of Tingley and Brian Smith of Clearfield; daughter Karolyn (David) Zollman of Mount Ayr; brothers, Jerry “Jock” (Robin) Smith of Chillicothe, Mo., Gary (Brenda) Smith of Diagonal and John Smith of Yuma, Ariz.; sisters, Betty Schnackenberg of Diagonal, Irene Ayres of Mount Ayr, Phyllis (Dale) Cregeen of Rockford, Ill., Barb (Bob) Strange of Mount Ayr and Roxie (Charlie) Fletcher of Diagonal; nine grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; brothers in-law, Keith (Leona) Sissel of Kansas City, Mo., and Delbert (LaDonna) Sissel of Excilsior Springs, Mo.; and sister in-law RoEmma Tull of Creston.

Cecil was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Dee, Lee and Richard; parents- in-law, Gail and Enda Sissel; sister-in-law Darlene Mathis; and brothers-in-law, Walter Mathis, Myron Schnackenberg and Francis “Bud” Ayers.
