Update: Nodaway death ruled a homicide

NODAWAY — The death of Allen Pafford, 44, Saturday in Nodaway has been ruled a homicide.

According to an Iowa Department of Public Safety report, at approximately 11:20 a.m. on Saturday June 20, 2015, the Adams County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from Kathy Pafford at 703 4th St. in Nodaway.

Pafford advised that her son, Allen Pafford, 44, was deceased. The Adams County Sheriff’s Office responded and located Pafford on the property.

On Monday, an autopsy was performed at the Iowa Office of the State Medical Examiner in Ankeny, by Michele Catellier, associate state medical examiner. Pafford’s death has been ruled as a homicide.

Officials believe this is an isolated incident and there is no reason to believe the public is in any danger.

The Adams County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa Department of Public Safety’s (DPS) Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) and Montogmery County Sheriff Office are assisting with the death investigation.
