Iowa Catholic Daughters attend state convention

Iowa Catholic Daughters of the Americas held its state convention May 14-17 in Des Moines. Attending from the Creston area were Carolyn Downing, Carol McKee, Jean Miller, Retta Ripperger and Teresa Weis.

Other courts set up displays to share their service projects and give ideas. Masses were held daily. There was a lot of networking and everyone came away with new ideas.

Karen Schwaller, author of “The Dirt: Family Life on an Iowa Farm” spoke on Thursday night. Her humorous stories combine her faith and family. Irish Tenor Mark Forest sang for entertainment Friday. Saturday evening a banquet was held. Homeschooled students from St. John Basilica in Des Moines entertained with their voices and instruments.

The organization is interested in new members. All Catholic women are invited to attend. Call Retta at 641-782-0918 for information.
