Celebrate Week Of the Young Child

From Brandi Snyder, president of Green Valley Chapter of the Iowa Association for the Education of Young Children

Creston

Young children in Creston, Iowa, deserve the best that we can give them.

Next week, April 12-18, is the Week of the Young Child. It is a time to recognize the needs of young children and thank the adults involved in their education and care. Parents, teachers, caregivers, and other adults play important roles in the lives of young children, and Week of theYoung Child celebrates their efforts.

We can show support for early learning in our community by promoting early literacy programs, thanking teachers who care for our children, and working to ensure that our public policies support early learning for all young children.

Two great events for young children will be taking place during this year’s Week of the Young Child.

The Union County Literacy Team is hosting Spring in Spring with IPTV’s Dan Wardell April 13 in Room 180 of the SWCC Instructional Center – 5 to 6 p.m. meal and activities, 6 to 6:45 p.m. Time with Dan.

Green Valley Chapter of AEYC and Gibson Memorial Library is hosting a visit from Blank Park Zoo 6:30 p.m. April 14 in Room 180 of the SWCC Instructional Center.

Week of theYoung Child is a time to remind us that Early Years are Learning Years.
