Olin Lovig Red Oak

Olin D. Lovig, 89, of Red Oak died March 26, 2015, at Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, March 30, at the Strand Lutheran Church in Adams County. The Rev. Jerry Lamb will officiate. Interment will be in Strand Cemetery. Open visitation with family present will be 4 to 6 p.m. at Pearson Family Funeral Service, 701 Seventh St., Corning. Memorials may be directed to the Strand Lutheran Church. Olin D. Lovig, son of Tilda (Larson) and Oscar Lovig, was born July 9, 1925, in Villisca.

Olin graduated from Villisca High School in 1942.

Olin served in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1948 to 1951.

On Aug. 27, 1950, Olin married Lois Gibson. The couple later divorced.

After Olin’s discharge from the military, he farmed in the Strand community all of his adult life.

Olin was a member of the Strand Lutheran Church.

Olin is survived by his son Barry (Lisa) Lovig of Red Oak; daughters, Kay (Nick) Howard of Saint Joseph, Mo., and Jan Lovig of Shenandoah; grandchildren, Christel (Eric) Nelson of Red Oak, Elizabeth (Pat) Jonas of Saint Joseph, Mo., Zachary Lovig (fiancé Grace Buckner) of Chicago, Ill., and Caleb (Sarah) Wick-Lovig of Omaha, Neb.; sister Glenna Spiering of Omaha, Neb.; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Olin was preceded in death by his parents; long-time companion Helen Quinn; and brothers, Leslie, Verlynne and Delmar Lovig.
