Helen Jean Schrodt, aged 83, formerly of Creston, joined our Lord November 14, 2014. Helen was being cared for with the assistance of Sante Hospice. Born to Erick John Erickson and Flora Edna (King) Crigger Erickson, Helen spent part of her childhood in Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Iowa. Her adult life was spent in Creston and Des Moines, Iowa, until she moved to Sun Lakes, Arizona in 2008. She was married 55 years to Leo Schrodt before his death in 2003. She was most proud of her family, which included two sons. Helen also loved to quilt, creating her own patterns, and to cook.
She is survived by her son, Richard Schrodt (wife Bobbi) of Sun Lakes, AZ and three grandchildren: Scott Harlan, Milo, IA; Shad Waggoner (wife Shandra), Des Moines, IA; and Shaylene Waggoner, Phoenix, AZ. Great-grandchildren are Mariah and Scotty Harlan, Kennedy, Kole, and Olivia Waggoner, and Sheridan and Brody Collins. She is preceded in death by husband Leo Schrodt; son Donald; parents; and four brothers and three sisters, with sister, Beverly Thompson of Downey, Wisconsin, surviving.
Her funeral was held at 9:00 A.M. on Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at First Baptist Church of Chandler, 3405 S. Arizona Ave., Chandler, AZ. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 PM, Monday, November 24, 2014 at the Graceland Cemetery Chapel in Creston. Pearson Family Funeral Service of Creston is in charge of local arrangements.
