Thanksgiving service planned

Union County Ministerial Alliance is sponsoring its annual Thanksgiving Eve worship 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26, at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). This is an opportunity to worship with Christians from across the county and thank God for the many blessings received over the past year.

This year, the worship service will be led by Mary O’Riley. The free-will offering will go to the crisis fund ministry of the Alliance, which provides emergency help to those in need.

Speaker for the worship service is the Rev. Jim Morris. There are three scriptural texts for the service: Ezra 8:21, 22b-23; II Corinthians 9:6-13; and Luke 12:16-31. His message is titled “Five Kernels of Corn,” based upon the pilgrim’s experience their third year in the new world.

All are invited to attend this community service, which has been held for many years as a way for people of Union County to say thank you to God.
