The fishing tournament during the 10th annual McKinley Park Festival Saturday afternoon had good attendance again this year with about 108 children participating.

Prizes for biggest fish and most fish caught were given to first, second and third place in each age division. The three age divisions were: 8 years old and younger, 9 to 12 years old and 13 to 16 years old.

A total of $500 in prizes were awarded for this free fishing tournament. Participants also received a free meal. The festival also included a skateboard competition, $1 swim day at the public pool, hog roast, auction, talent show and fireworks at dusk. John Kawa, chairman of Creston Parks and Recreation Board, said a total of about $5,000 was raised Saturday.

All money raised will go toward renovations for McKinley Park including dredging the lake sometime in the future.

Kawa thanked the sponsors for this festival, which included Central Iowa Amusement, Creston Park and Recreation Department, Creston Publishing Company, First National Bank, High Lakes Outdoor Alliance, Iowa State Savings Bank and Tyler Insurance.
