Wallace named Shining Star

Greater Regional Medical Center’s “Shining Star” Betty Wallace has served as a volunteer in many capacities throughout the community of Creston for decades.

Wallace originally retired in 1999, returned and then retired again in 2012, as adult and continuing education coordinator at Southwestern Community College.

Wallace is currently a member of Greater Regional’s Foundation Board, serves as a volunteer in the hospital gift shop and with informational guide services. She has been a community Red Cross bloodmobile drive coordinator for more than 20 years. She is a member of Chautauqua, financial secretary for her church, serves on a local senior residents’ advisory board, was on the Union County Compensation board for six years, and has been the co-superintendent overseeing a department at the Union County Fair for 12 years.

Wallace was one of the original founders of hospice services in the Union County area beginning in 1978.

Every day Wallace assists a special centenarian still living in her own home.
