Editor's note: In this letter to the editor published Tuesday, a sentence was inadvertantly left out of the last paragraph. Here is the letter in its entirety.
During school season at dismissal time, I was driving east on Adams Street. I have to stop for a crossing guard at the corner of Adams and Peterson Street. I turned right, not noticing that there were two school buses sitting on the right side of Peterson Street by Lincoln School.
I could not go around the buses as the STOP arm was extended. Kids are everywhere on the sidewalks, in the streets and yard. Numerous people in cars were there to pick up their children. What a mad house! Would this continue to happen if the library were there? (The building was empty at this time.)
Where would you park? The library has its own parking lot. Buses don’t load and unload there.
Maybe we should think of the safety, for our kids and the neighbors.
