To the city council

From Frank Gale

Creston

Isn’t it time to check with the community to see what it really wants in the way of the library’s future? My guess that after trying to raise $1.8 million for the past five years and that only $400,000 has been raised, that the community is not in favor of turning the old outdated school building into a monster that will drain dollars from the budget to pay for upkeep, utilities and security.

I do agee with Melvin Scadden wondering why a new name should be selected when the council hasn’t even approved the move. At the same time, I disagree with Mr. White simply for the fact that I doubt if the funds can be raised in another five years.

I do challenge the council to take the time to really study the future of the library. I have no doubt that it will discover that the community is in favor of building an addition to the present library instead of remodeling the old school.
